Montana Winter Fair 2026 • Jan 15th-18th

January in Montana brings a rare pause. Before calving barns fill and lambing season begins, the land settles into a quiet rhythm. Snow softens the wide-open grasslands, winter wheat lies dormant beneath the cold, and across the countryside, new life is already stirring—just out of sight.

Even in the stillness, life is growing. The earth resets, and Montanans take a moment to honor the agricultural roots that shape our days, our seasons, and our sense of community.

That spirit lives on at the Montana Winter Fair, a tradition that began in 1946 and continues to celebrate the state’s agricultural excellence and enduring western way of life. After decades in Bozeman, the fair found its home in Lewistown—right at the heart of Montana—where it continues to welcome participants of all ages from across the region, including Idaho, Wyoming, the Dakotas, and beyond.

The Montana Winter Fair is powered by Central Montana—by hundreds of volunteers and the local sponsors who believe in preserving this legacy and making it accessible for generations to come. Their dedication is what keeps this winter tradition alive.

Mark your calendar for January 16–18, 2026, and join your neighbors in Lewistown for a weekend that chases away cabin fever and celebrates the resilience, pride, and quiet beauty of Montana agriculture.
