Artist Nights: Performance & Theatre, A Discussion
FREE ARTIST NIGHT
Performance, Theatre, and Getting Started on Thursday, March 12, from 6–8 PM at MOB Studios in Lewistown. This free all ages community discussion will feature Lewistown native and New York City–based actress Cheri Wicks alongside members of the Judith Mountain Players, including founding member Rosemary Kent, offering insight into the many creative paths within theatre.
Kent, who helped reinstate the Judith Mountain Players after the organization’s earlier presence in the Lewistown community in the 1940s, continues to serve on the JMP board and remains an important advocate for local theatre. Her participation reflects the continuity of community theatre in Central Montana and the importance of preserving opportunities for performance and storytelling across generations.
Designed for aspiring actors, curious creatives, students, and community members interested in performance arts, the evening will provide a welcoming introduction to how theatre productions come together — from acting and auditions to stage management, lighting, costumes, marketing, and directing. The conversation will also highlight ways to get involved in local productions and build creative confidence in a small-town arts community.
Wicks, who grew up in Lewistown, is now an actress residing in New York City and serves as a Founding Member and Co-Producing Artistic Director of the American Bard Theater Company, an Off-Off-Broadway theatre company dedicated to developing artists and producing meaningful theatrical work. Her career spans theatre, film, television, choreography, and production across both Montana and New York. She recently completed a short course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in New York, continuing her commitment to artistic growth and collaboration.
While back in Lewistown for a limited time working with the Judith Mountain Players, Wicks is excited to share her experiences and encourage others to explore opportunities in theatre — whether on stage or behind the scenes.
Artist 101 Night is intended as an open conversation. Questions are encouraged, no experience is required, and anyone interested in learning how theatre works is welcome to attend.
