Festival of Trees

A magical wonderland of sparkling lights and theme-decked trees sets the holiday stage in early December in Lewistown during the annual Festival of Trees.

Participants from throughout the community decorate Christmas trees and donate them to the festival, which is a major fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Lewistown. More than 30 large trees are filled to the brim with so many presents, gift certificates and surprises that Scrooge himself could not resist feeling like a child just looking at the them all.

In the past, trees have included themes such as “HCR, Inc’s Airplane Tree,” decorated with electric airplanes, round-trip airline tickets from Big Sky Airlines, an antique prop, flying lessons and much more. Other trees have gotten their extra sparkle not just from lights, but jewels, like “Don’s Store’s Yogo Sapphire and Silver Tree.”

The Festival of Trees gala includes a fun Friday where public can view the trees as well as Nite with the Claus that evening, with the special visit of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Saturday again holds a time for public viewing from 10 am to 2 pm. The Festival of Trees main event is held Saturday evening, when all of the live trees are sold and dozens of wreaths, décor and gift items go to silent auction.
