Join American Prairie for an insightful evening exploring the heart of Montana’s prairie landscape. Veteran journalist Dave Hage will share stories from his new book, Sea of Grass: The Conquest, Ruin, and Redemption of Nature on the American Prairie (Random House, 2025), co-authored with Josephine Marcotty.
In Sea of Grass, Hage and Marcotty dive into the rich history of the North American tallgrass prairie—its incredible biodiversity, the sweeping changes brought by industrial agriculture, and the environmental challenges that followed. They also highlight hopeful efforts in conservation, sustainable farming, and restoration happening today.
As a longtime Midwestern journalist, Hage brings a grounded perspective on the prairie’s importance far beyond the heartland. The book features the prairies of North Central Montana, including American Prairie and the historic Matador Ranch.
Following the presentation, enjoy a Q&A session and a book signing with Dave Hage.
