Cottonwood Trail #489 is a lightly trafficked out and back trail that features a river and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Crystal Lake, located about an hour outside of Lewistown in the Big Snowy Mountains, provides opportunities for swimming, fishing and canoeing. The various trails surrounding Crystal Lake provide excellent views and photo opportunities. The Ice Caves Trail takes you to permanent a permanent ice cave, while the Crystal Cascades Trail brings you to a scenic waterfall.
The Uhlhorn Trailhead is located approximately 23 miles south of downtown Lewistown. The trail was created by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and the Judith Basin Back Country Horsemen. It is suitable for hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.
